Gait is defined as a
particular way of moving on foot. Every individual will have
a particular gait pattern that is individual to them.
What is gait analysis?
Who needs it and why?
What are the benefits?
There are certain patterns however that can cause particular issues within
the kinetic chain. It is our job to capture those movement patterns that
may be leading to a particular problem in ones body.
We at Issaquah Physical Therapy can perform a video gait analysis in order
to analyze each individuals
patterns. We can slow the motion down in order to see the subtle
biomechanical problems and we can
then address these issues in the rehab process. Geoff has extensive
experience with gait analysis and we use the latest in computer technology
in order to analyze movement patterns. In
addition to the analysis of walking and running we can analyze the mechanics
of cycling as well. For the triathlete with the desire to be on the top of
their sport we can assist in minimizing biomechanical errors.

Orthotics
Geoff has 14 years of experience with the process of designing orthotics. A detailed video gait analysis is performed on a treadmill and, when necessary, analyzed on the computer. Geoff will break down each phase of the gait cycle for you and describe the intricacies of any deviations from the normal cycle. He then casts the foot in a neutral position and designs the orthotic device based on precise corrective goals. Once delivered the orthotic is modified until the perfect correction is found. We do not rest until the goals are achieved.
